BAD BREATH - A SIGN OF DENTAL DISEASE
These teeth were all removed from a single dog whose primary complaint was bad breath. A thorough examination performed under general anaesthesia found profound periodontal loss. The roots of these teeth had lost their attachment to the bone which means irreversible disease. The diseased teeth were all extracted, the mouth healed and the bad breath has disappeared. Most importantly the silent pain and source of bacterial infection are gone.
Animals can still eat well without a full set of teeth, they may just need some modification to their diet.
