On the sixth day of Christmas...

On the sixth day of Christmas, Comet, a 5 year old jack russell terrier, presented with a very worried owner. Comet did not want to go for a walk or chase the neighbour’s cat this morning. When he did get up he walked like a drunk! On close inspection Dr Katrina removed a tick from under Comet’s eye and confirmed it was a paralysis tick. Comet was rushed straight into hospital and given lifesaving tick antitoxin serum, fluids and supportive therapy. Comet’s condition improved and made it home just in time for Christmas with strict instructions: No chasing the neighbour’s cat this week and don’t let anyone harass you about your haircut – it will grow back. Santa has been asked to add a small supply of Bravecto for Comet on his list this Christmas.
